PRIVACY POLICY

We take data protection seriously

The protection of your privacy when processing personal data is an important concern for us. When you visit our website, web servers store the IP address of your Internet service provider, the website from which you visit us, the pages you visit on our website and the date and duration of your visit. This information is absolutely necessary for the technical transmission of the web pages and secure server operation. A personalized evaluation of this data does not take place.

If you send us data by contact form, these data are stored on our servers in the course of data backup. Your data will only be used by us to process your request. Your data will be treated strictly confidentially by the conference organizers. The website is hosted by djangoeurope. Additional terms might apply.

Personal Information

Personal data are data about your person. These include your name, address and email address. You do not have to reveal any personal data to visit our website. In some cases we need your name and address as well as further information to be able to offer you the desired service.

The same applies in the event that we supply you with informational material on demand or if we answer your enquiries. In these cases we will always point this out to you. Furthermore, we only store the data that you have transmitted to us automatically or voluntarily or previously to KCORC or previous editions of the ORC conferences.

If you use one of our services, we usually only collect the data that is necessary to be able to offer you that service. We may ask you for further information, but it is voluntary. Whenever we process personal data, we do so only to provide you with our services or to pursue our non-commercial goals. This holds especially true for processing the submitted contributions and the review process as such.

Automatically recorded data

The provider of the website automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to the hosting service djangoeurope. For further details on these data we refer to the hosting server.

These data are not combined with other data sources. Processing is carried out in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 letter f GDPR on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the stability and functionality of our website.

Cookies

When you visit our website, we may store information on your computer in the form of cookies. Cookies are small files that are transferred from an Internet server to your browser and stored on its hard drive. Only the Internet protocol address is stored – no personal data. This information stored in the cookies allows us to automatically recognize you the next time you visit our website, which makes your use easier. The legal basis for the use of cookies is the legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR.

Of course, you can also visit our website without accepting cookies. If you do not want your computer to be recognized on your next visit, you can also refuse the use of cookies by changing the settings in your browser to “refuse cookies”. You will find the respective procedure in the operating instructions of your respective browser. If you refuse the use of cookies, however, there may be restrictions in the use of certain areas of our website.

Rights of the data subject

You have a right to information, correction, deletion or restriction of the processing of your stored data, a right of objection against the processing as well as a right to data transferability and to a complaint in accordance with the requirements of data protection law.

Right to information:

You can request information from us as to whether and to what extent we process your data.

Right to correction:

If we process your data that is incomplete or incorrect, you can request that we correct or complete it at any time.

Right to deletion (“right to be forgotten”):

You can request that we delete your data if we process it unlawfully or if the processing interferes disproportionately with your legitimate protection interests. Please note that there may be reasons that prevent immediate deletion, e.g. in the case of legally regulated storage obligations.

Irrespective of the exercise of your right to deletion, we will delete your data immediately and completely, unless there is a legal transaction or legal obligation to retain it.

Right to limitation of processing:

You may request us to restrict the processing of your data, if

  • you dispute the accuracy of the data for a period of time that allows us to verify the accuracy of the data.
  • the processing of the data is unlawful, but you refuse to delete it and instead request a restriction on the use of the data,
  • we no longer need the data for the intended purpose, but you still need this data to assert or defend legal claims, or
  • you have lodged an objection to the processing of the data.

Right to data transferability:

You may require us to provide you with the data you have provided to us in a structured, current and machine-readable format and to allow you to pass this data to another person in charge without our interference, provided that

  • we process this data on the basis of an agreement you have given and revocable or to fulfil a contract between us, and
  • this processing is carried out using automated methods.
  • If it is technically feasible, you can ask us to transfer your data directly to another person responsible.

Right of objection:

If we process your data for legitimate reasons, you can object to this data processing at any time; this would also apply to profiling based on these provisions. We will then no longer process your data unless we can prove compelling reasons worthy of protection for the processing that outweigh your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves to assert, exercise or defend legal claims. You can object to the processing of your data for the purpose of direct advertising at any time without giving reasons.

Right of appeal:

If you are of the opinion that we violate German or European data protection law when processing your data, please contact us to clarify any questions. Of course, you also have the right to contact the supervisory authority responsible for you, the respective state office for data protection supervision.

If you wish to assert any of the above rights against us, please contact our data protection officer. In case of doubt, we may request additional information to confirm your identity.
